Team Up Thursday

Cat's challenge this week - the word she chose is Balance.

Here is her take - exactly the sort of picture i wanted.  Don't you just love it?

I had so many other ideas in mind when I chose "balance" as a theme - the princess balancing on one of the garden hedges like she often does, or trying to do a yoga pose. When I just stumbled on this one, impromptu happening on the patio, I decided to snap it. Little man C decided that puzzle boxes make great towers. Balancing them is hard hard work.

Here is mine:

I had a few options to use for this theme and I just couldn't decide.  So settled on this.  Very literal interpretation of the word.  But let me explain nontheless.  I could not resist buying this little 'Gardening Angel' from my favourite gift shop in our little dorpie (town).  But golly, she just does not hang.  No matter what I do she falls down.  I don't think there is an distribution of weight.  So i finally decided to put her in this flower pot - but she is very precariously balanced.  The slightest breath of wind and boom, down she goes.  But i refuse to give in and this is where she is going to stay!

Team Up Thursday

Wow, this week has really flown by.  So much excitement here in SA at the moment with our hosting the World Cup!

I chose this weeks theme, and the word I chose was Delight.

First up is Cat - how delightful is her pic?  Nothing better than capturing our children in action!

When I got Shayne's theme for the week, "delight" I was sure that I will have to scratch around in the good old archives - not my first option. But today presented with the perfect moment on the public holiday. At granny's for tea, the Lill' Miss decided to dip her chocolate lolly pop in her warm tea, letting it melt in the tea and in her mouth. She enjoyed it so much  - it was truly a delightful moment.

And mine:

I decided on Delight as my theme for this week as a follow on from Cat's subject last week.  To me the colourful photo's that we posted for the 2010 Soccer Fever theme said "delight" in every form.  But then the challenge for me was to find just as delightful a photo!  But, here is where having children does come in handy!  I managed to capture my 4 year old daughter climbing high up in one of the trees in our garden, and she was having a absolute ball!  It was freezing outside, i think the temp was 5 degrees or thereabouts.  But she is such a outdoors child, a typical farm-girl, and even the cold temps could not keep her inside.

What do you think?  Delight or not?

Team Up Thursday

This week's theme, as chosen by Cat is 2010 Soccer Spirit:

I chose the theme 2010 Soccer Spirit as today is the day before the opening ceremony and kick-off. I really took so many pictures over the week for this one - flags, kids in soccer shirts, vuvuzelas etc, but this one somehow remains my favorite as the colours are just so vibrant. This street seller apparently only sells South Africa supporters items and no other country's but you can literally get anything for any country for sale on your local street corner.
Thanks Cat - stunning stunning pic.  You and I definately are on the same page because that is exactly the image I was hoping to capture whilst in EL on Tues!
And mine:
When Cat suggested  2010 Soccer Spirit as this weeks' topic - I thought 'great topic, but where do I capture soccer fever in my small dorpie (town)?  I had a whack of plans, none of which materiliased.  This shot did though, which was by fluk (accident) and I'm completely thrilled with it!  My eldest daughter was obviously having a Soccer moment, and I caught her loafing on the couch, completely mesmerised by whatever was on the TV, with all her soccer paraphenalia around her.  I just love the vibrancy of the colours and her idle fiddling with the flag (on a pencil!).  So although there may be no Soccer Fever in our small farming town - there sure is in our house!

Team Up Thursday

As this is my 'creative space' as such, i have decided to post Team Up Thursday's here.  And of course, it is not private, so anyone can have a peek.

Cat's first:

When Shayne decided on "happy" as a theme I had a very specific picture in mind involving 3 kids, a bubble machine and sunlight. The weather this weekend had other plans though and it was grey and raining. So, this one from The Lil Miss' sports day early in May immediately came to mind. Their team had just won the teddy-bear relay and I captured this spontaneous moment. To me, it's just happy.

Mine next:

When I decided on Happy I thought that the pic would definately include children and laughter.  But my mood has been grey, thanks to my headache, so no such luck.  Instead I have used this pic - an absolute favourite of mine - who can reist a chip sarmie?  Honestly?  They are my best - lightly salted crisps on freish white bread with lashings of butter.  My oh my.  Yummy.  And of course anything that is 'yummy' in my eyes in turn  makes me happy!
